Matching clips not found error

Verify that the EDL or XML is formatted correctly

  • If you're using an EDL, ensure that the Red Reel names are contained within the EDL - e.g. A001.
Click here for valid EDL examples
  • When using Avid Filmscribe, ensure you add opticals
  • If you have multiple video tracks then flatten your timeline before export for best results
  • If you're still having issues, try exporting EDL/XML for each video track separately.

Make sure the timecode format is correct

Try changing the timecode setting in Monkey Extract from edgecode to time of day, or vise versa, and re-rendering.

Your footage would have been edited in one of two timecode formats:
  • Edgecode - which starts on the hour and increases until the reel is finished
  • Time of Day - which is the actual time of the day that the camera rolled
  • If your timeline references both Edgecode AND Time of Day then you will need to run Monkey Extract twice to render your footage; once for Edgecode and then again for Time of Day.
If you don't know, ask your editor, or open the EDL in a text editor and take a look at the first timecode column. Edgecode will usually start on hour 1 and never be greater than hour 2. Time of day can be anything.

Make sure the source directory contains the correct R3D files

All of the R3D files used in the cut need to be in one folder on your hard drive.
Monkey Extract will drill down and find R3D files in any sub folder, ignoring any that were not used in the cut.

If you have R3D files in multiple folders, create a new folder on your desktop, and create aliases to the R3D folders within then new folder.

Increasing Render Speed

Monkey Extract uses Redline (a component of Red Alert) to render footage. Your CPU utilization will vary with different render settings. Your render speed will be similar to rendering with Red Alert or using Redline directly on the Terminal.

To increase render speed, you may wish to consider purchasing a volume licence
