Final Cut DPX workflow
This workflow is for grading DPX sequences with a fast Raid hard drive.
Final Cut users with a standard hard drive should follow the Final Cut Quicktime workflow.
- Export a CMX 3600 EDL or Apple XML from your editing software
- In Monkey Extract, select the R3D source, EDL or XML file, and destination folders
- Click the edit render settings button to change the Monkey Extract Settings
- In the Output Format tab, set format to DPX, folders to one folder per reel, file names to Red file names
- On the Resolution, Scale & Crop tab, change the output resolution
- Click the Color & Gamma tab and adjust color settings as required
- Click Apply settings, and click Extract footage. This begins the rendering process
- In finder, navigate to the directory where your original EDL is
Monkey Extract will have created a new EDL with the suffix: _for_grading
- Open the new EDL with the grading software of your choice, and import the rendered DPX files
